Chalk Talks for Kids
George and Claudia Vogrin provide unique, educational and entertaining programs for children of all ages. They incorporate art, music, character qualities, stories, audience participation, and fun into their programs. Children and adults are captivated as they experience the excitement of a multi-media presentation.
Program Description:
Chalk Talk:
“A picture is worth a thousand words.”
A multi-media presentation that engages multiple senses for an entertaining learning experience. Performing artists, George and Claudia Vogrin, draw a beautiful picture while presenting a valuable character lesson. Children are attentive as they watch the drawing and also enjoy participating in the program. A surprise lighting effect concludes the program.
Character Lesson:
“…But by the content of their character.” Martin Luther King Jr.
The children enjoy an exciting adventure as they explore the ways in which good character can be valuable in their own lives. They will find character qualities demonstrated in the lives of historical figures and in the world of nature. Children will learn that it is “cool” to have good character! Audience Participation gives the children the opportunity to get involved, be a star, and to have fun.
Summer 2009 Character Focus: Creativity
Definition:
Approaching a need, a task, or an idea from a new perspective.
Illustrated in the World of Nature:
A raccoon is creative in meeting it's needs and those of it's young. Enjoy the stories of how a raccoon creatively provides for himself.
Historical Figure Who Displayed Creativity:
Known as the “father of the peanut industry,” George Washington Carver made his famous discoveries about the peanut in 1913 when the boll weevil threatened southern cotton crops. Learn how creativity helped Professor Carver save thousands of farmers from bankruptcy.
Personal Application:
When children meet the unexpected, creativity makes the difference between finding a solution and giving up in defeat. The “I wills” of creativity describe a mindset that prepares children to respond constructively to problems.
I Will:
- use my talents for good
- see things from more than one perspective
- use principles to solve problems
- learn all I can
- look for new ways to be a person of character
